A child's adjustment to divorce or separation depends upon the parents' parenting skills and their ability to reduce the conflict between them. You can minimize the impact of divorce on your children.

This 4-hour parent education seminar that explains...

  • The effects of separation and divorce on children
  • How children feel about the divorce or separation of their parents
  • How important it is to keep children out of the middle of parental conflict
  • How to minimize parental conflict through good communication
  • Parenting skills to increase the effectiveness of parenting from two homes

You can help them cope with the separation and help prevent long-term emotional, social, and academic problems.

Carol and Mike Brady make it seem like combining two families is a breeze. This is known as the Brady Bunch Myth. Healthy Stepfamilies is a 6-session program for couples forming stepfamilies. It is being offered by Couples & Kids, a non-profit counseling center in Forest, VA. The Healthy Stepfamilies program is designed to help couples adjust to changing relationships and roles, learn step parenting skills, communicate more effectively, and learn conflict resolution skills.
